Some circles are not round. . . Most of the leaves have gone beyond the peak, so I am posting some of the accumulated photos of the past days. Shortening daytime and colder nights tells the tree to stop photosynthesis and lock down communication with the leaves that make the tree vulnerable to cold. This reduces chlorophyll content and with it the green color on the leaves diminishes, allowing the other colors such as yellow to unmask before the leaves drop off. Some tree types like the maples also have high levels of glucose, which adds the bright red tones to Vermont’s famous color palette. . . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ #fallcolors #vermontinfall #vermont #leaves #autumncolors #foliage #incagraphy #nomadinca #leaf #redandyellow #redandyellowleaf via Instagram http://ift.tt/2fkonpv
